Why would I want custom-painted furniture?

Many of my friends have furniture in their homes from the generations before them. They always touch these pieces with reverence and proudly tell the story of how they acquired them. Custom-painted furniture is intended to be a part of the legacy you leave behind, a positive symbol of what you aspired to and of what you hoped your children would aspire to.

Why would I want hand painted furniture?

How is custom hand painted furniture part of my legacy?

Joyful Noise Studios creates artistic representations of some element of what you value. By incorporating images and words that you choose, we can permanently commemorate an element of your spirit. You might choose a quote that communicates you appreciation of nature, or your dedication to creativity; you might choose words from your holy book to show your relationship to the Creator; or you might choose a poem you wrote back in the third grade. You can choose lines from the first letter your partner ever wrote you or words from the song you danced to late at night with your crying baby.

How do I choose the furniture I want painted?

Your first consideration is where you see yourself using this piece of furniture. You might consider a toy box, a breakfast table, or an armoire. I have painted everything from a $10 yard sale kitchen table that I then cut down into a coffee table, to a beautifully crafted raw wood sofa table. I encourage you to use a piece of unfinished furniture as that allows a beautiful finish and a clear picture of the wood we are working with. However, I will also do a limited amount of sanding if the piece you choose is stained or varnished. Please contact me for some ideas about where to shop for terrific unfinished furniture.

How do I choose the design for the piece?

Our first design meeting is the most important part of our process because it allows me to guide you in the creation process. This time will be reminiscent of elementary Show and Tell. I encourage you to bring to this meeting a few of your favorite belongings that tell me a story about you or show me the colors you like to incorporate into your home. This time will allow me to get a glimpse into who you are and what your hopes are for this piece of furniture. We will create some image ideas and we will uncover the words you want to use. I have a great quote catalog to help get you started in choosing your words.

After we have discussed the design, what should I expect?

Within a week of our discussion, I will share a sketch with you. We will further refine our ideas and if we have not already settled on a color palette, we will do so at this time.

How long does it take for me to get my piece?

This is entirely dependent on the design we choose and the size of the piece we are using.

Is the furniture intended to be used?

The finish on these pieces is intended for clean up with a glass cleaner and/or water. Pieces that are intended for outdoor use will be finished to allow for that.
